Program
2017 NYAC Program (Preliminary)

Come hear our Plenary Speaker, Devin Lander, New York State’s 16th Historian, present “2017: A Year of History,” discussing statewide initiatives taking place surrounding 2017’s historical anniversaries; attend thought-provoking workshops and sessions; join us at our Thursday evening reception; and wrap up the conference at the concluding luncheon with Professor David Wittner, who will discuss, “Digitizing Grandma’s Attic.”

Choose from our two workshops: A program to increase practical knowledge of disaster recovery and response through hands-on salvage of a simulated disaster, and the SAA DAS certificate course, Building Advocacy and Support for Digital Archives.

We are offering sessions on the Women’s Suffrage Movement in NYS; Applied Disaster Preparedness for Small Institutions; Digital Humanities in the Archives; Oral Histories in the Digital Landscape; Pragmatic Processing for Diverse Collections; Strategies for Lone Arrangers; Resurrecting College Archives; and Teaching with Primary Documents.  Poster presentations will take place on Thursday afternoon.

This year we are also featuring a Thursday Mentorship Luncheon hosted by Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY).

Join us for intellectual and professional development, networking, food, and fun at the NYAC conference in Utica!
